Athletics:
  • Athletic packets must be turned in for those wishing to participate in Spring sports.
  • Boys basketball pictures will be Friday Jan 25th.
  • Boys and girls soccer pictures will be Wednesday Jan 23rd.
  • Wrestling pictures will be Wednesday Jan 28th.
  • RAK/Co-Ed Volleyball tournament: Grab 3 girls and 3 boys and get signed up for the RAK/Co-Ed volleyball tournament on Wednesday Jan 23rd. $30 per team… if your team paid and played in the practice tourney, you do not have to pay again.
  • General Announcements:
  • Formal tickets are now for sale!  $45 with ASB sticker, $55 without ASB sticker.
  • Cap and gown order forms are available in the Activity office or you can visit http://www.Jostens.com and select Centennial High School (Bakersfield) 
  • Lifetouch retake pictures from Oct. 28th are available in the activities office.

From the Career Center:
  • Attention Sophomores and Juniors: Students attending the Regional Occupational Center Campus Tour tomorrow, Jan. 23rd will meet in the Career Center at 7:30 am before boarding the bus. Permission slips must have previously been turned in.
  • Seniors: The 2019 Lincoln Day Essay Scholarship is here! Pick a current issue that has either a local or national impact and explain how Abraham Lincoln would deal with the issue if he were president today. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be presented with scholarships of $2,000, $1,000 and $750 at the annual Kern County Lincoln Day Dinner. Pick up an application today.
  •  All seniors should complete the FAFSA, even if you may not qualify for most financial aid. Financial aid offices use the FAFSA to create a financial aid package that may include both need and academic based aid. Stop by the career center for help, the FAFSA deadline is March 2, 2019. 
  • Bakersfield College bound seniors if you haven't completed an application for Fall 2019 come to the career center to get your application completed.
  • Attention BC bound seniors: Bakersfield College has nearly 300 unique scholarships available from merit to need-based, covering all majors. Deadline to apply is Feb. 1st. Flyers are available with more information.
  • Seniors: The Gandhi Scholarship Application is available now. The Gandhi Celebration Committee and the Ravi and Naina Patel Foundation invites all H.S. seniors to submit their original essay as part of a year long celebration of Gandhi's 150th birthday on the following topic: "Satyagraha: Truth is the Goal, Nonviolence is the Way."  1st prize is $1,000 and 2nd prize is $500. 
  • The Scholarship of the Week: Martha "Marti" Ortiz Memorial Scholarship. This monetary award is given in memory of Martha Ortiz a dedicated counselor here at Centennial. It is designed to help graduating seniors continue their education and build a brighter future for themselves and those around them; which was Martha's goal for all students. More information and applications are available in the career center.
