Architectural Design Pathway

 

Architectural Design 1 (Arch Des 1)
This College preparatory one-year course, the first in a series of four courses, is intended to give students an in depth study architectural principles, proper drafting techniques, and technical drawings. 3D CAD software will be instructed to produce drawings in the fields of architectural, mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering. Projects include: 3D printing, creation of floor plans and elevation drawings through the use of 3D CAD Architectural and Mechanical software, and architectural model making using traditional media for exploration of form, shape, spatial relationships and construction theory. Students who complete Architectural Design & Drafting will meet requirements for Visual and Performing Arts credit for graduation, as well as admission requirements for California State Universities. This course is open to all students.

 

Architectural Design 2, 3, 4 (Arch Des 2, 3-4)
These are College preparatory one-year course courses and designed to be advanced Architectural Design courses. They are the second, third and fourth year courses for the student interested in a career in the architectural and civil engineering, as well as construction fields. A deeper study of 3D CAD software will be used to produce drawings in the fields of architectural, mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering. Projects include: 3D printing, creation of floor plans and elevation drawings through the use of 3D CAD Architectural and Mechanical software, and architectural model making using traditional media for exploration of form, shape, spatial relationships and construction theory. A successful completion of Architectural Design 1 with a grade C or better, or the approval of the instructor are pre-requisites for these courses.
